
We’ve always aspired to rule the lands. Now, when we are almost there, we wish to take to the oceans and space even. Maybe it’s our insatiable longing for luxury that has inspired architects to conceive and produce some stunning floating hotels of late. So, we’ve listed some of them for the well-off callers and all who, we think, would love to spend a night in for sure.
• ReefWorld

Great Barrier Reef, Australia, will be the home to a hotel project called ReefWorld. The British architectural firm, Richard Hywel Evans, will construct a full underwater spa, 8 submerged bedrooms, glass-walled bathrooms and a research facility. It will become the world’s first eco-friendly floating hotel, and will generate renewable energy using turbines, solar panels and underwater trickle-charge generators. More here…

• Premier Inn Floating Hotel

Currently in the concept stage, the Premier Inn Floating Hotel in Hartlepool, Cleveland, UK, will be a 54-bedroom floating hotel when it’s completed. The hotel will float vertically with the tide. Built on a reinforced concrete transfer slab, the four-story superstructure above deck level will employ a lightweight steel panel frame system. Linked to an existing Premier Inn on the quayside, the hotel will be ready for occupation by early 2010. More here…

Russian architect Alexander Asadov conceives the floating, spaceship-like Aero Hotel. A system of supports will hold it above the water. You would see it flaunting hanging gardens, cafes, restaurants and a landing strip for a Zeppelin when it’s completed. More here…
