Sanyo, an electronic company committed towards providing products and services that support modern living and make environmental contributions is all over the news for its green tech power. The company proclaimed that it has successfully developed a solar cell that is thinner than a human hair. The new invention is composed of two types of silicon.
The new prototype solar cell’s structure is optimized in a way that a conversion efficiency of 22% can be achieved. Coming with a thickness of just 58 micrometers, the cell can be turned like paper, giving you the opportunity to use it for a number of purposes. This new technology is expected to bring down the cost by nearly 25% in comparison to its conventional counterparts. With its green technology, Sanyo aims to hold the top spot in Japan’s domestic solar industry by 2012 and ultimately become one of the top three solar companies on an international level. The company hopes to bring their new technology to the market by 2020.
